Sex, is it still taboo in mainstream pop-culture?
Why is violence so acceptable but sex and nudity is still so taboo ? It's no problem to have violent movies and cartoons ect ect but nudity is so frowned upon.
Does it say something about us as a culture and society ?
Sex profoundly affects your soul violence usally does not.
That is why, and out of decent respect for others.......What if it was your mother sister or daughter who was nude and getting pumped on tv a non to friendly thought.....
Is it taboo to date a cartoon character?
For the purposes of this question, let's imagine the real world is like "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" or "Looney Tunes Back In Action."

Is it wrong or taboo for a human to date a cartoon character, like Jessica Rabbit?

What about an animal character, like Bugs or Lola Bunny? Imagine a full-grown human man dating a cartoon mouse, like Gadget from the Rescue Rangers cartoon. How would that work?

Should it be illegal for a human to marry a cartoon character - animal or otherwise?
Jessica Rabbit - wow! - how about Marge Simpson then?
Do you think you would rub them out or the paint would run if you tried anything ?
Adult orientated innuendos acceptable in cartoons?
Every now and then I'll be watching a guyren's cartoon and I'll notice a play on words or a situation that seems to reference something that only someone older then what people think that the cartoon is aimed to would understand, I don't know if all of these are purposefully put into the show but personally I think some of them are hilarious. Usually I'm watching these cartoons with guyren who don't even slightly get what I'm laughing at. I have noticed that some parents are outraged when they see something like this which brings me to my question. If any of these jokes are actually purposefully put into a cartoon, they are always so vague that they are usually missed, plus, they revolve around subjects that a guy wouldn't understand anyway and are purely added in so that adults can enjoy watching them too. I, and everyone else from my generation grew up watching cartoons that very clearly displayed certain things, which nowadays, are for some outrageous reason considered taboo by some people. And we aren't mentally twisted to the degree that some parents today seem to think their guyren might end up. I can get behind cigarettes getting booted from guyren shows today but really, are little vague jokes aimed at parents that big of a deal?
A lot of modern cartoons, like The Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama & American Dad are aimed more at adults than guys, its very different to 50 years ago with Warner Bros and Walt Disney cartoons. A lot of 11 year olds will enjoy The Simpsons but will only understand half of the jokes, when they see a repeat of the episode in 5 years time they will understand it better, when they see it again at age 23 they will by then be able to understand most of the jokes.
The Simpsons representation of race and gender?
Does the representation of race and gender in the simpsons ever reflect ideologies of society and stereotypical types?

Are female representations of marge ideological- ie being a housewife and so forth or do they break barriers with people like lisa who are smart and strong individuals

What about race, do they play on race and use it to mock societies stereotypical views of race or is there more to it?

Could anyone provide me with good episodes that show this.. Its a good debate talking about cartoons because they can overcome the taboo's of society
The Simpsons (the family, not the show title) kind of represent the changing/modernization of families and how American families are now, in my opinion. Homer's fat and lazy, Marge is a housewife who allows him to be fat and lazy, she has her bursts of feminism, Lisa is feminist I guess, Bart is a troublemaker...I think the comedy comes in where everyone is OK with that.

The Flanders, on the other hand, are more traditional, and that's what contrasts with the Simpsons. Ned is always working with flowers though, which kind of throws it off. He's almost the only skinny guy in Springfield though. Good luck on your race and gender paper, it sounds like haha.
Are novelty socks taboo for men?
I'm male, and I love wearing mutlicolored socks all the time, ones with cartoons, stripes, sayings, etc. I've always wondered why men don't have nearly as much of a choice for fun socks as women do. Then it got me wondering even more because I took a recent trip to the UK and there were plenty of cool socks for men there. Here in the states its just plain, solid colored socks. Any thoughts? I'm I one of the few men here in the US that likes crazy colored socks? Or are they just gag items for most men?
You are the only man I know that wears those. I don't even think I've seen any with the rest of the mens socks in a store. But it's alright, BE DIFFERENT!
Whats with hollywood making anime and cartoons into live action films?
first, they did dragonball evolution and they put a white guy as goku (taboo) and avatar the last air bender (its not japanese anime, and i dont like it), and i heard they want to make akira and BLEACH?? i really hope they dont make a bleach movie with white people. Even if they are asian it will still suck. I hear rumours that there is a bleach live-action trailer, but so far i cant find it. anyone know?
so not only do i agree with you that if they do it with white people it will suck and if they f**k up the live action movie then it will suck. and after reading your question i went searching for anything on a live action bleach movie and i found the following link: www.slashfilm.com/2010/03/21/warn…
there is an article about it but i couldn't find a trailer. fingers crossed if they do it they get it right!!!
About the reprinting of prophet Muhammed`s cartoons in many danish newspapers,?
why is the criticism of religions, prophets and even god himself in Europe acceptable as an aspect related to freedom of speech while trying to deny the holocaust or saying that there was some kind of exaggeration in the numbers of the victims(if published in a newspaper)is considered a serious crime for which you can be persecuted?(although of course i believe that the holocaust was one of the worst genocides in human history which resulted in the death of more than six million jews)so what i mean isn`t that some kind of hypocrisy?accepting to make fun of or criticize some subjects as a corner-stone for freedom of speech and banning the criticism of other subjects as if was taboo(like the holocaust) please give me your opinions about this coz i`m really confused
First of all, lol, individuals that make statements like the one Waylon J made is only evidence of their ignorance and that they don’t have a clue about what they’re talking about.
He has been misled and doesn’t realize that he has been captured and is now a member of a growing CULT of individuals that are continually being programmed and CULTivated to disseminate misinformation, intolerance and hate.
They are too ignorant to recognize their own weakness(es) and take responsibility for their own actions and continually search for someone else to blame for their failure(s) and shortcomings.
The founding fathers of their cult recognize their weakness and cull them from the rest of us that are continually trying to steel ourselves to keep this a world free for all…they included.
I do my best to NOT let them upset me. I believe it to be my sacred duty as a human being to speak out against individuals that continually try to spread misinformation that leads to intolerance and hate and the other negatives that subsequently surface as a result.
As they ARE a danger to certain segments of society at certain times, he and others like him are NOT to be ignored.
Individuals that spew venom about things they have no knowledge or understanding ARE to be pitied but also WATCHED.
He is one of who gives pause to some to think that MAYbe wiretapping and surveillance restrictions SHOULD be relaxed.
Every human being has been given free will by our Maker and shouldn’t allow anyone to usurp the right to exercise it.
Just know and understand that there is consequence to EVERYTHING that you think, say AND do.
Then what do you do if you have a Toddler, and you hate guyren's cartoons? From Family Guy Question?
Wow, I was expecting some various insight, from not good to being open to the idea. My big concern was just the language. I think most of the adult subjects are above a guys head. Kind of like how music is, until you experience something in the song.

As far as guys go, if you are not much into guyren's programming, as I am kind of like how Adam Sander's "Big Daddy" character reaction to having to watch the Bunny Hop song, or whatever that was. I have to admit, I was one of those people who joined the Anti-Barney organization, so I am kind of bias there.

I am kind of hoping to have a really mature, savvy and european like guy who knows and understands more than what we Americans freak out on, particularly when it comes to things like boobs. I feel like if you work with your guys, talk about stuff minus the bloody scenes, they will probably grow up as very well-adjusted guys. What blows my mind is that we as Americans are more freaked out about stuff like boobs, and not as freaked out about violence in general. Seems logical to have it the other way around.

From Family Guy, if my son eventually asked me why did Stewy hit mommy with a club, it would be a good time to talk about humor on tv, about how it's a lesson on what not to do. When they say a bad word, talk about why it's a bad word (as I really hate profanity-odd I know, for liking Family Guy). At least from the stand point of a real situation, teaching your guys by example, whether positive or negative, but not try to conceal it as though they cannot handle until teenage levels.

I think as a Parent, just being there, ready to explain the world, be it a butterfly or a pair of Boobs seems more healthy than to slap a PG-13 on it, and say you cannot handle. It seems you make it more a racy subject, taboo, or worse, a future fetish.
While I'm not going to sit my toddler down in front of Family Guy unsupervised while I cook dinner or something - it's not going to scar my guys for life to see the show. But - chances are a toddler is going to be too young to have the savvy conversation about right and wrong that you are imagining - at that age my daughter was more likely parrot the show than have savvy and mature conversation about it. Now that she a little older (she almost 6) we do discuss the things she sees on tv, how she feels about them and use it as a learning opportunity.
Why do Muslims impose their taboo's on me?
Why must I follow their taboos? Im not a Muslim, and will never be stupid enough to follow their religion, so why do they impose anything on me?

Thats the most annoying thing possible. Why the hell do they care if I make a cartoon...why cant they mind their own business and enforce their insanity against their own sheeple?
Islam is more a political philosophy than a religion---it is a way to organize society that leaves the individual practically no freedom to live as he/she chooses. It may be couched in religious terminology but it is, in reality, a political system. A bad one.
Would it be too taboo for me to dress up as a black character on halloween?
i did that a few years ago...i dressed up as this particular black superhero from a cartoon. i was thinking of doing that again, but is that too weird? :P
I think as long as it is a particular black character or person it should be fine. Just don't do anything you'd be ashamed of if you were to meet up with someone who is black.

I assume there will be Obama costumes this year.
